Keynote Speaker

Prof. Bing Liu from University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, will deliver a talk in the workshop. Prof. Liu is a well–known researcher highly active in the fields of text mining and opinion mining. He has been participating in these areas for more than ten years. The methods developed and the scientific findings discovered by him and his team have made significant impacts on the data mining, text mining, and opinion mining communities.

Panel Discussion

Prof. Liu has confirmed his acceptance of the invitation to give a keynote speech in our workshop. This is a great, unusual opportunity for our workshop participants to discuss with such a world class level expert face–to–face. Such an opportunity will be beneficial and invaluable to any data mining participants from either academia or industry. Therefore, having Prof. Bing Liu as a keynote speaker in our workshop will have great potential to attract a large number of quality contributions.

Panel Discussion will be held in the end of the workshop. Senior researchers and industry practitioners who have a wealth of experience in the research of topic discovery and opinion mining will be invited as panel members to lead the discussions. The panel discussion will be maintained in an open atmosphere. Any topics/questions/issues are welcome to bring up by audiences, as long as they are related to the topics of topic discovery and opinion mining. With such a panel discussion, audiences will have a change to discuss their own concerns with a broad group of experts and expect invaluable advises from the panel. Hence, the panel discussion will have great potential to attract many submissions, especially those early–career researchers and PhD students.
